It’s finally here! That time of year where fashion and beauty lovers anxiously begin to examine their bank accounts and compare it to the fabulous catalogue that Nordstrom offers as a part of their annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
I put away a little bit of money every month all year in the build-up to this event because I know that it will be incredibly difficult to resist the stellar deals! And if you’re just hearing about the Anniversary Sale for the first time, fear not! I will break down for you exactly what it is, when it is, and who can shop it!
What Is It?
Every summer around July/August, Nordstrom releases their fall collection in stores and online at extremely discounted prices. These items will all become available later on, but they will be full-price at that point, so it is the best time to stock up on some fall staples!
And this is not just a sale for Nordstrom brand items. There are so many brands featured in this sale every year; from Tory Burch to Free People; from Madewell to Charlotte Tilbury. It’s definitely a sale worth checking out if you are looking for a fall wardrobe refresh or have been waiting to splurge on a new handbag or pair of shoes and want to take advantage of some awesome deals!
When Is It?
Check out these important dates below!
- July 24th: Early Access Preview:
This is when Nordstrom’s website lets us all take a sneak peek at what items are going to be featured in the sale so that we can plan and plot in order to figure out which items are our MUST HAVES. And I am not ashamed to say that I take this very seriously.
Every year, I make a special Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Excel spreadsheet with photos and prices to determine which items I absolutely must have vs. which items I would be glad to snap up if they are still available and some of my first choice picks got snapped up early. And even if you aren’t planing on strategizing the perfect plan of attack for this sale like a war general, it is just fun to take a look at what kinds of fall trends we can look forward to!
- August 19th: Anniversary Sale Goes LIVE
This is the day when the sale officially begins for the general public (unless you have a Nordstrom Card….I’ll go into that in a bit). If there are items in the sale that you consider to be must-haves, I highly encourage you to shop the sale the MINUTE it goes live. Things sell out ridiculously quickly, and more people than ever are going to be shopping the sale online due to social distancing measures this year. So do yourself a favor and log in that morning to grab everything you had set your sights on!
- August 31st: Items Re-stock and Prices Go Up
On the 30th, the sale officially ends. The next day, items included in the sale will go back to their original sticker price, and they usually go back in stock. At this point, you can purchase some of the things you missed out on (as long as you are okay with paying full price) or–if you are like me–you wait until your bank account revives itself and THEN you go back to pick up a few extra items. What can I say? There are just way too many awesome pieces in the sale each year. And fall fashion is my weakness….
Who Has Access?
Everyone can shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Regardless of whether or not you are a Nordy Club member, you can shop this sale. HOWEVER, if you happen to be a Nordstrom Cardholder, you get to shop this sale a week earlier than the general public. It’s free to sign up and definitely worth it if there are a lot of items you have your eye on.
Like I mentioned before, some of the partiularly hot products sell out within minutes of the sale going live for Early Access members…..so you can imagine that by the time general access comes around, things will be pretty picked over.
That being said, Nordstrom re-stocks items throughout the sale period, o it is always worth it to continually re-check to see if something you had your eye on is back on the website! I’ll also be posting about the things that I see that are back in stock, so stay tuned!
Here is the calendar broken out once more:
